Opel and Holden are wholly-owned subsidiaries of General Motors, no different from Chevy or Pontiac. GM is not just an American company, its just incorporated in America. Probably not for long though with the 2nd highest corporate taxes being in America.

just wanna add correction, you're right about where Sky and Solstice are from Opel. Yet GTO is derived from Holden Monaro, long ago before Vauxhall sell it in UK as a Vauxhall. Anyway, The Sky and Solstice gets their manual 'box from Aisin

Don't you know that Honda is the only Japanese manufacturer which stands alone without govt help? Even GM gets govt financial help right? lol You know what? Asian biz is the most efficient in the world. Their manufacturers know what does market want. Just realize that American does like Toyota Camry and Honda Accord better than Ford Taurus Japanese cars also known for their reliability. Americans are just live in their so-called 'the big three', which all of them are about to go to bankruptcy

For the record, Honda received MASSIVE government subsidies in the 90's and 80's. Not the high-interest loans GM has, but free money. Look it up. And just like Mitsubishi, Sony, Toyota, Nissan, Hitachi, and a myriad of other Japanese companies, Honda practiced trade dumping; the practice of selling products in a foreign market for less than in their domestic market. This practice is and was illegal under the United Nations.

Do you just not want to admit it? The Solstice GXP and Sky Redline kick this car's ass. In every way, and for $4000 less. Arrange a race, either in stock or tuned form, doesn't matter. Drag race, city course, circle track, Nurburgring, doesn't matter. You LOSE!!
• mechmusician on 24-Dec-08

Yeah man, thats great the GXP and Redline are fast cars. But you realize that you are comparing a natural aspirated car to a....how many psi turbo?? The Honda S2000 is a 200,0000 mile car. Can not say much for the Opel. Haha! Plus, Honda usually does not belive in forced induction. The MDX is their forced induction vehical in how many years?? GM was also the first company that failed with the 'first company to have a turbo passenger car'. Nissan has not have one failure.
