i understand the concept, but using twice the amount of gas to spin it is a problem, because now your getting (as recorded) 15-16MPG. which is equal to a V8 producing alot more HP. Then theres another problem, reliability is in question and having seen the low mileage engines replaced (based on fact not opinion) this is a concern. Having to check oil level every 2 gas fill up's makes me feel like a babysitter also. I see the intention, but it has the odds stacked highly against it.

i have a winning bleu rx-8 ; but was this one standard? i'm looking for a turbo but not know what to chose .. think gonna go for greddy

My dad owns a rx8 6 speed mazdaspeed j-spec, only 22 made. Its a 2004 model, and it is upgraded and shaped differently then the rest. My dad is #6 and does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and the quarter in 9.7. Looking forward to putting a video up sometime within 2-3 weeks. =D

LMFAO! Bullshit!!! There are VERY few cars who hit 0-60 in under 3. Not even a GTR hits 60 in under three, not even a S7 hits that (if it does it's like right on it). a 9.7 quarter..lol. You are SO full of it.

Lol i think he meant 5.8 seconds instead of 2.8seconds since the 2 is right under 5 on the number pad. A big mistake either way.

I hope you meant 5.8 seconds and do the 1/8 mile in 9.7 seconds. Not in a quarter mile. Either way you made 2 big mistakes.

I've driven them before and they are slow acceleration wise. I hate forced induction but I think the RX-8 is actually a pretty good candidate for a turbo.

instead of cylindrical pistons, the rotary engine is in basics a big triangle that spins around and does twice the work twice as fast

the EASIEST way to desribe is this. rotary engines dont work on your traditional piston cylinders . what it uses is a rotary design. umm.. picture this. if you hold your arm out and hang a hoola hoop from it and start moving your arms to spin the hoola hoop. pretty much works the same. rather than the up and down motion of the traditional piston (most cars have 4-8) rotary engines have a single circular motion. make sence?
